Welcome Everyone!

I cannot believe it’s 2008!  I think it’s going to be a wonderful year!  Not only do I have this new web site which has definitely been long overdue, I have been busy working on  unique  designs and pattern packets. 

I have been teaching Acrylic Painting now for over 13 years and I am still loving it!  I opened my own business, “Simply Cotton” five years ago.  Not only do I enjoy my home studio with all of my wonderful students, I also travel teach.  I am fortunate to have had many of my designs published in Paint Works Magazine, Quick & Easy Painting and also Painting Magazine with more to come in 2008.  I am a member of SDP (Society of Decorative Painters) and DAIC (Decorative Artists in Canada).    This  year I will teach  and host  a booth again  at the” Coast to Coast Creative Arts Convention” in Mississauga as well as experience for the first time teaching and  hosting a  booth at  “Artist Expo” in Houston Texas.

 It was early one morning as I was outside doing my daily routine of filling up the cow’s water bins.  As the water poured through the hose, I stood there in silence and watched a spider in its web, which had been spun between the wooden post and wire fencing.  At first I studied the spider and then soon became engrossed with the spider’s web.  I was amazed at how perfectly spaced and proportioned the web was and how the weaves were so intricate.  I thought how neat it would be to reproduce this in one of my paintings.  Then I walked out into the field and took a deep breath as I enjoyed the aroma of freshly cut hay.  Painting and designing help us to see beauty in things that we may have once overlooked.  “To Stop and Smell the Roses” so to speak.  May we always see beauty and be inspired by our surroundings.  May we also share this with others in order to teach them how wonderful life can be through words of encouragement, teaching and listening.
